Press release – For immediate release
Montreal, December 3, 2018 – Rohan Marley, one of the sons of the legendary singer Bob Marley, introduces viewers to the island of Jamaica from every perspective with La Jamaïque au goût de Marley, an original production that will premiere on MusiquePlus, Friday, January 11 at 8 pm. Immerse yourself in the culture of a country that vibrates to the reggae beat!
Musical performances, local gastronomy, breathtaking landscapes, privileged access to the country’s legends and hidden gems well worth discovering. Rohan presents the richness of this sunshine destination via a veritable cultural immersion, his contacts and his fame.
The documentary series immerses viewers into the mythical story of the Marleys who propelled Jamaican music to worldwide success. It also presents a new Jamaica where sustainable development and food autonomy are becoming more and more ingrained in the country’s culture.
The original music was composed by Mathieu Sénéchal. Inspired by the history of Jamaican music, the soundtrack includes ska, rock steady, dub and, of course, reggae. The Canadian reggae band Inword also contributed significantly to the series by providing tracks from their album Purify.
Actor and director Iannicko N’Doua (Runny, The Simones) lends his voice to Rohan throughout the series orchestrated by Olivier Aghaby and Éric Hébert, the team that brought us the documentary Pablo Escobar raconté par son fils.
La Jamaïque au goût de Marley has attracted international attention. The show has already been sold in France and South Korea but has not yet aired.
Directed by Anthony Ayotte and produced by Cult Nation and Télégramme Média, the ten 60-minute episodes of La Jamaïque au goût de Marley will air on MusiquePlus, Friday evenings at 8 pm, starting January 11th.
